Monterey Country Club prints the clubhouse as 41-500 Monterey Avenue on its October 2025 scorecard, and as 41500 Monterey Avenue, Palm Desert, CA 92260 on montereycc.com. Same number. The name is Monterey, one r. Monterrey is a different city. The golf is 27 holes in three nines, East, West, and South. What the deed does with the club is not a sentence the current membership page settles.
Where is Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, and how is it spelled?
Monterey. Not Monterrey. The club uses that spelling in the page title, the footer, and the scorecard. The scorecard, dated 10/2025 and posted on montereycc.com, uses the desert hyphen: 41-500 Monterey Avenue, Palm Desert, CA 92260. The phone on the site is 760-568-9311.
The city is Palm Desert. Golf Digest's directory for the South nine lists the same street, the same city, private, designer Ted Robinson, ASGCA. College of the Desert publishes its campus at 43-500 Monterey Avenue, Palm Desert, CA 92260. The clubhouse number and the campus number are on the same avenue, and the clubhouse address sits north of the campus. That is a corridor fact, not a drive time. The scorecard map also labels Magnesia Falls Drive along the South course.
What course sits behind the clubhouse?
Three nines, not one 18. The golf page calls it a private 27-hole facility designed by Ted Robinson, on approximately 375 acres, with narrow palm-lined fairways, bunkers, and water on several holes. The October 2025 scorecard prints the architect as Theodore G. Robinson. Black tees:
- East: par 35, 2,964 yards. One par 5. The golf page calls this the shorter nine.
- West: par 36, 3,150 yards. The longest nine on that page, with wash terrain and more water.
- South: par 36, 3,040 yards. The middle nine.
Those three pars add to 107. The nines pair three ways, named on both the golf page and the scorecard: East/South, South/West, and West/East. The golf page's approximate yards match East and drift a few yards on West and South. Use the scorecard when a flyer needs a number.
Does a house at Monterey Country Club include membership?
Not as a full golf card, and not as a blank. Two club writings do not match.
The membership page on montereycc.com, read October 1, 2026, calls the tradition "Membership by Invitation." It does not say a recorded deed includes a category, and it publishes no dues and no initiation figure. Full Golf is unlimited play on the 27 holes, sports-complex use, dining, non-transferable, with the page's words "No Assessments." Associate Golf is 24 rounds, not unlimited play. Junior Full Golf requires the oldest member to be under 55, is offered resident and non-resident, and is non-transferable. Athletic membership is resident and non-resident, covers racquet sports, bocce, fitness, and dining, and is not described as a golf card. A buyer who does not know a member is pointed to an ambassador or to membership sales at 760-568-9311, extension 232.
A separate sheet titled Proprietary Membership is not on that page. It defines a homeowner as a grantee on the recorded grant deed and says homeowners are Proprietary Members who pay proprietary dues. From November 1 through May 31, that card allows four uses of the courses, racquet and fitness facilities, and practice facilities, each time on a guest fee, plus dining and the pool. From June 1 through October 31 it allows unlimited use of those facilities, again on a guest fee. That is not the Full Golf category. The sheet prints 760.568.9100. The live site prints 760-568-9311. Ask membership whether the sheet is still in force. Do not treat it as the rule until they say so.
Leave dollar figures off the flyer. They are not on the current membership page. If a current packet has a number, date it.
A house outside this association is not a Monterey homeowner on either writing. Inside it, do not tell a buyer the golf card came with the keys, and do not tell a buyer the club has no claim on the grantee, until membership puts the current rule in writing.
Who built it, and who runs the association?
Sunrise Company dates Monterey Country Club as Palm Desert, 1978 to 1982: 1,206 homes, 375 acres, 27 holes, and a 27,000-square-foot clubhouse. The golf page agrees on about 375 acres and on the 27 holes. The live site does not name an outside operator for the club. Court counts do not agree across the club's own pages, so this guide does not pick one. The membership page says 10 tennis courts and 24 pickleball courts. The racquet page says five tennis courts and 33 permanent pickleball courts. Both say four bocce courts. Confirm tennis and pickleball with the racquet desk. The membership page calls the clubhouse Spanish Colonial. The home page still prints "Have Fun Stay Young."
The club and the association are different desks. The contact page lists Monterey Country Club Homeowners Association, Inc. at 275 Avenida Del Sol, Palm Desert, CA 92260, phone 760-346-9778, and routes association questions to an Albert Management email address. Albert Management's site names Monterey Country Club Association among the communities it works with. The club site keeps an HOA link separate from member login. Get the membership letter from the club. Get the budget from the association.
What have homes in this subdivision actually closed for?
Closed sales, not a valuation and not a current list price. In the FlexMLS extract of status C, city Palm Desert, subdivision exactly "Monterey Country Club": 273 closings from September 22, 2021 to August 31, 2026. Prices run from $350,000 to $1,250,000. The median is $560,000.
Every card is Book Section Condominium, ZIP 92260. The floor is a condominium. The remarks on that card describe an end-unit plan, not a lot, a timeshare, or a co-ownership. The top of the file is a condominium too. Year built clusters in 1979 (193 cards) and 1980 (78), with one card in 1978 and one coded "19," which is not a year. That stock sits inside the 1978 to 1982 dating. It is not the year each nine opened.
How is this different from other clubs in Palm Desert?
Scale, and the card. Monterey is a large condominium club on three Robinson nines, on Monterey Avenue, north of College of the Desert. Chaparral Country Club is the other Palm Desert spelling problem: one shorter course, with homeowner social access published as separate from the golf card. Indian Wells Country Club is the next city, a different club. For the streets around this address, start with the Palm Desert neighborhood page. The short campus note already live is the Monterey Country Club developments page.
What should you confirm before you write an offer?
Is the spelling Monterey?
Yes. One r. Monterrey is the misspelling. The club does not use it, on the site or on the scorecard.
Is Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert?
Yes. 41-500 Monterey Avenue, also written 41500 Monterey Avenue, Palm Desert, CA 92260. Phone 760-568-9311. College of the Desert is farther south on the same avenue, at 43-500.
How many holes, and what par?
27 holes on the October 2025 scorecard: East par 35, West par 36, South par 36. Black-tee yards are 2,964, 3,150, and 3,040. The card names Theodore G. Robinson. The nines pair as East/South, South/West, and West/East.
Does buying the condo include golf?
Do not assume it. The live page sells invitation categories, and Full Golf is one of them. A proprietary sheet that is not on that page says a grantee on the deed is a Proprietary Member with limited access and proprietary dues, and it prints a phone number the club site no longer uses. Get the current letter from membership, extension 232, before you write the offer.
Is the club the same thing as the HOA?
No. Clubhouse phone 760-568-9311. The association, at 275 Avenida Del Sol, Palm Desert, CA 92260, is 760-346-9778, and the club contact page routes those questions to Albert Management.
