Development Description

The Vintage Club opened in Indian Wells in 1980 after co-developer Mick Humphreys brought Tom Fazio west to design an ultra-private golf environment under the Santa Rosa Mountains. The club's own history page describes a four-year build that delivered the Mountain Course, the Desert Course, about 500 luxury residences, and a modernist clubhouse that later expanded into an 80,000-square-foot facility renovated in 2016.

Golf: Mountain and Desert

Both 18-hole courses are Fazio designs. In 2014 Fazio completed an extensive redesign of the original Mountain Course. The club presents golf inside a member-owned, highly private setting rather than a resort tee sheet. Practice facilities support the two courses, and the member experience is framed around easy camaraderie in a resort-style atmosphere rather than public tournament traffic.

The inaugural Vintage Invitational in 1981, described by the club as a precursor to the PGA Senior Tour, drew names such as Arnold Palmer, Don January, and Sam Snead. That early invitational history still sits in the club's origin story, even though today's buyer conversation is more about privacy, service, and membership approval than about hosting a public board.

Homes and privacy

Residences range from smaller locks-and-leave product to large custom estates along Vintage Drive in Indian Wells. The published club narrative emphasizes discretion, gated entry, and a resort-style member atmosphere beneath Eisenhower and the Santa Rosa skyline. Exact current home counts vary by source; lean on the club's framing of about 500 luxury residences unless a seller's association packet states a different figure for a specific phase.

Membership

Buying a home at The Vintage Club is separate from joining the Club. Membership is private, member-owned, and approval-driven. The club does not publish a current public initiation or dues schedule on its marketing pages. Treat third-party fee quotes as unverified until Membership confirms them in writing, and build purchase offers with a membership-approval contingency when club access is part of the buyer's plan.

Club life

Beyond golf, The Vintage Club describes tennis, dining with lake and mountain views, speaker forums, wine dinners, jazz concerts, and seasonal family programming such as Kids Klub events. High season concentrates the social calendar; many member relationships carry into summer travel. For address context, directories commonly list the club along Vintage Drive in Indian Wells, CA 92210.
