PGA West

Development Description

PGA WEST in La Quinta markets itself as the "Western Home of Golf in America," a resort and private-club campus of nine championship courses under Coral Mountain. Course architects on the property include Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Arnold Palmer, and Tom Weiskopf, so buyers shopping homes here are choosing a multi-course golf destination rather than a single fairway address.

Nine courses, resort and private

Resort play is available on the Pete Dye Stadium Course, Pete Dye Mountain Course, Pete Dye Dunes Course, Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course, and Greg Norman Course. Private membership courses include Pete Dye Citrus, Jack Nicklaus Private, Tom Weiskopf Private, and Arnold Palmer Private. Every course is presented with multiple tee boxes and practice support, which is why the campus works for both destination golf weeks and year-round member play.

The Stadium Course is the best-known public face of the property, including the island-green 17th nicknamed Alcatraz and a water-lined finishing hole. Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament have hosted The American Express on the PGA Tour's West Coast swing, which keeps PGA WEST in the national golf conversation each January. That tournament history matters for buyers who want a recognizable golf address, and it also shapes seasonal traffic, event calendars, and the premium on certain Stadium-facing neighborhoods.

Living at PGA WEST

Housing spans gated enclaves with condos, townhomes, patio homes, golf-front houses, and custom estates. Sub-neighborhoods are organized around different courses and product types, each with its own association rules, reserve practices, and rental policies. Entry pricing and estate pricing can sit in the same master plan, so the right first question is usually which course, which product type, and which HOA packet, not a single community average.

Homeownership does not automatically include private-club membership. Buyers who want member golf and the fuller social calendar join separately through The Club at PGA WEST or The Citrus Club. That split is useful for second-home owners who want a lock-and-leave house without carrying a full golf membership, and equally important for golf-first buyers who should underwrite initiation and dues beside the mortgage.

Clubs and amenities

The Club at PGA WEST describes member access that can include private and resort courses depending on category, plus dining, a Sports Club, social programming, and a dedicated dog park. The Citrus Club sits among citrus groves with mountain and fairway views and notes access ties to the La Quinta Resort experience. Both clubs lean on year-round calendars of dining, sports, and member events rather than golf alone.

Current initiation and dues are not published as a fixed public schedule on the marketing site. Request a written quote from membership before you underwrite carrying costs, and confirm which courses and facilities a specific category actually unlocks. Norman Williams and Jacqulyn Stanton of The Stanton Williams Group at Compass work with buyers and sellers across PGA WEST. Reach Norman at 760.464.2190 or Jacqulyn at 760.702.2557.
