Andalusia opened in 2006 at the foot of the Santa Rosa and Coral Mountains, a Drummond Company club with a long Rees Jones course and a Spanish idea about walls, tile, and shade. Two years later the recession arrived. Home sales and membership lagged, as they did everywhere, and a planned second Jones course on land to the east never left the map. In 2018 Sunrise Company bought the club, the remaining lots, and the job of finishing a community that had started too close to a crash. The result, on more than 525 acres in south La Quinta, is a Sunrise-run private resort community that still looks toward Spain and still plays on one championship eighteen.
The club publishes the layout at 7,521 yards, par 72, with a forward set at 5,489 yards. Fairways are deliberately wide. Nine lakes, three waterfalls, and a planting program of olives, palms, and flower beds sit against Coral Mountain. Members can walk on; the club states that tee times are not required. The golf clubhouse holds locker rooms, the Rees Jones Terrace, and Tapas Restaurant for indoor and outdoor meals. Jones built length without forcing houses into the shot, which is why the course still reads as a park rather than a corridor between backyards.
Sunrise is still releasing collections that pair Spanish-inspired exteriors with contemporary interiors and deep lots sized for private pools and covered patios. Golf-course villas sit throughout and along the perimeter. Customization, including solar on new houses, is part of the current sales pitch. Exact home counts change as phases sell. The club’s own about page does not freeze a completion number, so underwrite the specific address and the current inventory rather than a master total pulled from an old developer sheet.
Sports Club membership is a homeowner benefit paid through the HOA, with no separate sports initiation in the club’s recent resident materials. Golf is optional. Andalusia has not charged a food and beverage minimum in those same materials. Initiation and golf dues move. Do not budget from a blog or a year-old PDF. Get the current resident brochure in writing. Beyond golf, the campus lists a renovated fitness center and studio, a 25-meter resort pool with spa and children’s wading pool, bocce, dedicated pickleball, and tennis that includes a stadium court and clay. Social life runs from mixers and tournaments to wine tastings and theme nights.
The published membership address is 59195 Marbella, La Quinta, CA 92253. Old Town La Quinta and the rest of the cove clubs are a short drive; the mountains are the actual neighbor. When you compare Andalusia to Hideaway, Tradition, or PGA WEST, the useful questions are whether you want Sunrise still building, whether optional golf is a feature or a compromise, and whether Spanish-contemporary is the architecture you want to live with in July.
